ELEVENTH ANNUAL RED RIBBON AWARD PRESENTATION

"Sergeant Talbot has been recommended for the Red Ribbon Award for his work and continued effort in controlling youth access to tobacco.  He drafted the Village's tobacco licensing ordinance and has written and spoken on the relationship between tobacco, drugs and minors, reaching a national and international audience."

"The Red Ribbon Award is a national event that originated in 1985 when special agent Enrique Camerena of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration gave his life in the fight against drugs.  At that time the Virginia Federation of Parents called upon citizens to work to reduce demand for drugs in the community and display a red ribbon as a symbol of their commitment. Today the Illinois Drug Education Alliance seeks to do the same in Illinois."

School District 68 - Illinois Drug Education Alliance

"Dear Sergeant Talbot:

Thank you very much for the excellent Forum you presented at The City Club on Friday, January 10, 1997.  Your remarks were both enlightening and thought-provoking.  You are a terrific speaker and the topic was important.  I have two sons and am also well acquainted with the president of our township trustees.  You can bet I'm going to see what we can do in our little community.

Again, it was an honor to have you as our speaker.
